Connecting to a PLC
Configuring a route on the PLC
To connect to a plc you first need to configure a route on the PLC.
This can be done in the Beckhoff Device Manager.
In the Device Manager under TwinCAT and then under Connectivity you can manage and configure Routes.
Creating a route requires the following settings:

| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Route Name | The name of the route. |
| AMS Net ID | The Reniway AMS Net ID.1 |
| Transport Type | Should be TCP_IP. |
| Address | The Reniway IP Address or Host Name (Tick the correct checkbox). |
| Connection Timeout (ms) | The timout of the connection in milliseconds. |
| Temporary | Whether the route should be temporary. (Probably not for our use case) |
Configuring a TwinCAT ADS Connector
The TwinCAT ADS Connector has following settings:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| IP Address | The IP address of the PLC. |
| PLC Net ID | The AMS Net ID of the PLC.2 |
| Port | The port used by the PLC. |
